TAX158 : Tax Risk Management Workshop Part II - Practical Applications and Case Study

3.50 CPE Hours (Others)
Classroom

Programme Objective

How many of you are aware of a new trend in international taxation – more tax scrutiny by tax authorities worldwide.  It is respectively submitted that businesses operate in a riskier environment as they are now constantly exposed to tax scrutiny particularly when they have to undertaken an increasing volume of business restructurings and refinancing activities in order to stay profitable. Tax authorities have joined forces globally, becoming more aggressive and focused after the Global Financial Crisis (GFC).

How should you respond to this global trend, knowing that any tax risk management (TRM) models adopted in your organisation before the GFC no longer provide adequate protection? How many of you realise that in order to manage tax risks and comply with tax obligations, your organisation had to be aligned with tax compliance, reporting, and maintaining effective tax authority relationships for a sound tax framework on the system, processes and resources?

In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore the nature and extent of the potential tax risks and re-think how they can take their learning to improve the existing TRM of their organisations.  The use of practical case studies and interactive discussions between the workshop facilitator and the participants would form a major component in this workshop to ensure that the discussion and key learning points remain practical and relevant.
