Programme Overview

This CPE Seminar is conducted in association with Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Programme Objective

As the world moves towards regionalisation and internationalisation, it is increasingly important for businesses to be aware of the potential tax exposures arising from their international footprints, particularly in the area of Permanent Establishments (PE). In general, PE means a “fixed place of business” through which a company conducts some or all of its operations.

Using numerous case studies, this workshop aims to provide insights and practical tools to increase the participant’s understanding of PE and enable the participants to make a better PE decision. Participants will gain insights into real world examples, common issues and pitfalls related to PE. As this is an intermediate level workshop, participants will be assumed to have equipped with a basic understanding of the PE concepts.

Programme Outline

Upon completion of this course, you should have an in-depth understanding of PE and be able to:

  • explain the different types of PE
  • understand the scenarios that may create a PE
  • understand the possible consequences of having a PE overseas
  • know what to consider when applying tax treaty provisions relating to PE

The use of practical case studies and interactive discussions between the programme facilitator and participants will form a major component in this workshop.

Training Methodology

Lecture style with case studies and discussions.

Closing Date for Registration
