Programme Objective

Design Thinking enables participants to develop and deliver innovative ideas, change and solutions to complex problems. It is an activity-based process with a strong emphasis on teamwork and co-creation.

Accountants will learn how to use the Design Thinking tools to identify their stakeholders, use the inquiry approach to learn more about their customers (i.e. one of their stakeholders) and to propose solutions that are aligned with the needs of their customers.
 

Programme Outline

 

  • Introduction to Design Thinking
  • Stakeholder mapping: Identifying all those involved in the problem
  • Framing the problem and finding the persona
  • Persona mapping: Identifying the customer
  • Customer Journey mapping: Identifying the customer’s journey
  • Ideation and Prototyping: Building the solution
  • 5-minute presentation per group
  • Self-reflection: Apply the solutions to their customer


Training Methodology

Design Thinking is a people-centered approach that uses five key principles:
 

  • Empathy: This is the fundamental principle of the Design Thinking Process, which is enabled by sincerity, thoughtfulness and concern for the customer
  • Design research: Collecting insights and creating new understanding for both parties so that the needs can be ascertained
  • Collaboration: Creating a conducive environment where ideation can take place effectively
  • Prototyping: An opportunity for participants to create a new experience, service or product to address the emotional touchpoints of the customer
  • Iteration: Process of repeatedly testing and evaluating the product or service to eliminate flaws before product or service is launched
