This course aims to equip participants with the skills to easily create useful RPA scripts to automate the audit, accounting, tax and corporate secretarial processes, without any coding or programming knowledge.

 

Routine and repetitive processes such as preparation of Account Receivable confirmations, Account Payable confirmations, bank confirmations, preparation of AGM documents, roll-forward procedures, sending of email reminders, tracking of key deadlines, timesheet management, report generation and audit client billing can be automated easily using RPA. Participants will learn how to achieve this through using a RPA software.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to immediately use the RPA solutions and adopt the use of RPA in their workplace.

  • Develop RPA scripts using case examples
  • Identify audit processes suitable for RPA implementation
  • Develop RPA scripts using learner’s selected process (es)

  • Introduction to RPA

  • Develop RPA scripts to automate selected audit processes through the following case examples using a RPA software (6.5 Hours):
  • Case study 1 – Accounts receivable confirmation preparation process
  • Case study 2 – Data entry from excel working file to accounting system
  • Case study 3 – data extraction from accounting system to excel

 

 

 Day 2: 9am to 12pm

  • Case study 4 - Sending of emails (1 hour)
  • Case study 5 – excel automation of reports (1.5 hours)

Discussion on the potential adoption of RPA within our organization and work and it’s benefit (0.5 hour)

1.5 days training: Facilitated learning which includes classroom or practical sessions in a workshop.

0.5 day clinic: Review of projects and identify suitable accounting and auditing processes to automate. Please refer to Note 1 for details

Notes to Participant (Pre-course Preparation):

  • The RPA clinic on Day 2 afternoon includes an assignment which requires application of RPA script for audit process(es). Participant should bring along forms or templates currently used by the firm to the clinic for the purpose of completing the in-class assignment.
  • Participants to bring own laptop (note 3) downloaded with the following software prior to the course date:
  • Specifications of the laptop: windows OS, i5, 8 gig RAM and have access to internet.

Daryl Aw

Daryl Aw is a Chartered Accountant and lecturer in Accountancy at Singapore Polytechnic. He teaches auditing and accounting modules in SP Diploma in Accountancy (DAC) in SP School of Business (SB). He oversees the DAC final year projects focusing on accounting technology such as Caseware Working Paper and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to automate audit, accounting, tax and corporate secretarial processes with various industry partners. He previously worked as an auditor with EY Singapore.

Ronnie Hoh

Ronnie is a Chartered Accountant and a lecturer with SB. He teaches accounting related modules like Business Accounting and Financial Accounting. He is also part of the RPA Team at SB and has supervised various RPA and accounting technology projects. He previously worked as an auditor with PriceWaterhouse Singapore.

Tang Kah Heong

Kah Heong is a senior lecturer with SB and has worked as an application consultant, where he implemented enterprise resource planning solution in the areas of financial, purchasing, production, inventory, sales and logistics functions for different organizations. Kah Heong is also the RPA Lead in SB and has conducted numerous RPA training and implemented RPA projects with organisation from across different function and sectors.

Germaine Lim

Germaine Lim is a Chartered Accountant and lecturer. She teaches various auditing and accounting modules in SB.  She previously worked as an auditor with EY Singapore. She is also part of the RPA Team at SB and has supervised RPA projects.
