Programme Objective

This one-day practical course aims to train participants with the knowledge and ability to apply advanced excel functions for business analysis and financial reporting. Participants will also learn the fundamentals of transforming basic formulas to interactive formulas to support dynamic and sustainable reports.

This programme also serves as a primer for the Business Analytics & Reporting (BAR) course.

Overview of Excel

The following formulas will be covered in a 3.5 e-learning module with self-practice exercises.

A. Cell References

  • Relative vs. Absolute referencing
  • Named Ranges

 
B. Using Functions to Lookup and Reference to Database

  • Match
  • Hlookup / Vlookup
  • Choose

 
C. Text Functions

  • Concatenate
  • Left
  • Right
  • Mid

The following 3 formulas will be covered in a 3.5 Hours live webinar with computer hands-on exercises: 


D. Using Functions to Manage Data:

  • Logical functions
  • Mathematical functions


E. Using Functions to Lookup and Reference to Database:
 

  • Offset
  • Index

 
F. Placing controls on a worksheet:

  • Forms
  • Creating interactivity using combo box, spinner and scroll bar
  • Making choices using check box or option box on a worksheet
  • Linking a control to worksheet data

Pre-requisites

Please take note of the following admission requirements:

  • Trainings will be conducted on Zoom platform, thus video camera and microphone are compulsory
  • Mandatory for video camera to be turned on throughout the course
  • Display your official name (as per NRIC) in Zoom, to facilitate attendance taking
