Programme Objective

This is a 2-day workshop for new and experienced audit professionals to introduce audit methodology (including the ISCA Audit Manual for Standalone Entities (AMSE) and requirements in Singapore.

The workshop will focus on helping participants understand the regulatory environment and audit documentation expectations in Singapore. It will also provide guidance on how to effectively make use of the various programmes and forms in the ISCA Audit Manual for Standalone Entities (AMSE) to meet the various audit requirements.

 

Programme Outline

1.  Understand the audit environment in Singapore

 

2.  Key concepts and its application

  • what constitutes reliable and appropriate evidence in the context of Singapore environment, using AMSE
  • common audit documentation weaknesses

 

3.  Case studies will be used to illustrate practical application of the AMSE in the following areas:

  • Initial evaluation of a new client;
  • Audit planning;
  • Execution of the audit;
  • Audit completion;
  • Carry-over of the information; and 
  • Updating of new information into planning for the audit in the following year.

 

4.  Particular emphasis will be on understanding the nature and requirements to effectively complete the programmes and forms in the manual. 

 

5.  We will also discuss some practical challenges that the preparers and reviewers of AMSE may encounter and how to address those challenges.

 

Participants are to bring their own hard copy of the AMSE for the workshop and perform their documentation on their own copy of AMSE.  The AMSE, in parts or in full, will NOT be distributed to the participants during the workshop. ISCA Audit Manual for Standalone Entities is available for download for all ISCA Members on a complimentary basis.

Alternatively, you may want to bring your laptops to the workshop and work on the electronic copies instead.
