Programme Overview
 
Communication between auditors and their clients is a big part of the audit engagement. The effectiveness of their interactions will determine the amount of details the auditors obtain to properly complete their work. This could also affect the outcome of the engagement and the amount of follow up work required to complete the engagement. Therefore, it is important that auditors know the right techniques to prepare and conduct an effective client interview and properly document the interview.

  • During the client interview
-     How to start an interview
-     Asking effective questions
-     Active listening
-     Appropriate body language
-     Challenges when interviewing clients
-     Importance of professional scepticism
-     How to conclude an interview

 

  • After the client interview
-     Follow up action steps
-     Proper documentation of the interview

 
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
 

−    Apply essential steps to prepare a client interview;
−    Demonstrate proper question formulation and delivery;
−    Use verbal and non-verbal communication skills that will enhance the effectiveness of an interview;
−    Describe the importance of professional scepticism in an interview;
−    Identify steps to assess and explore the information; 
−    Practice essential steps to start and conclude an interview effectively; and
−    Document the interview effectively in the workpapers.


Pre-requisites

Please take note of the following admission requirements:

  • Trainings will be conducted on Zoom platform, thus video camera and microphone are compulsory
  • Mandatory for video camera to be turned on throughout the course
  • Display your official name (as per NRIC) in Zoom, to facilitate attendance taking


Training Methodology
 
Our approach to training is based on adult learning principles to create a conducive and active learning environment where participants can apply newly acquired knowledge, skills and attitude throughout the workshop.
 
We use a variety of interactive and engaging activities, such as role-plays and group discussions, to allow participants to consider new ideas and apply their new skills to realistic scenarios in a safe learning environment.
 
As a result, participants will leave our workshop with the confidence to immediately interview their clients effectively.
