Programme Objective

Though Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)  has been around way long before the turn of the millennium, risk management continues to be practised very much on a silo basis. The consequences have been clear - as seen by the various enterprise catastrophes which dotted the financial and nonfinancial spheres. With the onset of Covid-19 and accelerated digitalisation (with the emergence of Industrial Revolution (IR) 5.0 and Web 3.0) , all businesses - big and small - are confronted with colossal challenges in conducting work and business activities both within the enterprise, and in dealing with external parties which include clients, suppliers and third-party vendors. Covid-19 has undoubtedly stretched many organisations to breaking point and even collapses. For those struggling to stay sustainable and resilient, they need to examine the current and potential internal and external environments and make quick recovery in the "next normal". This one-day workshop initiates and fortifies the participant in the fundamental issues and challenges of an integrated and enterprise-wide risk management approach, drawing guidance from regulatory and industry calls including COSO, ISO, Basel, MAS, NIST with particular emphasis on how to stay Business-as-Usual with Covid-19 and digitalisation.

Upon completion of course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the various forms of risks faced by an enterprise, particularly in a post Covid-19 world and appreciate the importance of successfully mitigating these critical risks and uncertainties
  1. Explore the evolution of the ERM discipline over the last two decades and how its relevance has heightened given changing business, regulatory/governance dynamics and diversity/inclusion calls
  1. Gain insights from industry guidances and other organisations' experiences in their ERM processes to broaden knowledge and to implement an efficacious risk culture within the organisation particularly changing work/business/financial habitats brought on by Covid-19 as well as continual escalation of technological and regulatory disruptions

Programme Outline

  • The importance of risk management, specifically integrated Enterprise wide risk management.
  • Sustainability, Resiliency and more - why they matter to the enterprise?
  • Charting the Galaxy of Risks - and their Interconnectedness in Industrial Revolution (IR) 5.0, Web 3.0 and a Covid-19 driven "next normal" environment
  • The hard and the soft aspects of a Risk Management Framework - the importance of a Workable Structure and a Healthy Risk Culture
  • Insights from COSO, ISO and Regulatory/Industry guides, with a view to new work/business conduct patterns escalated by Covid-19 and accelerated digitalisation and emerging tools like Risk Bow Tie and Risk Voting
  • The benefits and practical issues/challenges of embracing ERM - particularly with Covid-19 and digitalisation in mind
