Programme Objective

IAS 8 (equivalent to FRS 8, SFRS (I) 1-8 and Section 10 of SFRS for small entities), is the financial reporting standard provided in guiding reporting accountants in presenting and disclosing change in accounting policies, change of accounting estimates and correction of error, in the year of impact.

This workshop aims to guide accountants in applying this reporting standards on case studies relevant to newly adopted reporting standards e.g. IFRS 16 Leases and addressing the impact of disruptions from Covid-19.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants are able to:

  • Understand and Apply change of accounting policies, change of accounting estimates and correction of errors as per IAS 8
  • Report and Present its impact in current financial year with clarity and reliability in enhancing comparability
  • Apply IAS 8 in addressing the adoption of new reporting standards i.e. IFRS 16 Leases and IFRS 9 Expected credit losses
  • Differentiate applying changes using retrospective vs prospective method appropriately and confidently
