This leadership programme is designed for new or experienced managers, team leaders or superiors from any functions, within all types of organisations who want to successfully develop their leadership capabilities to manage teams and derive performance while serving in a strategic role.

A blended learning programme which is delivered through three e-learning modules (total 3.5 hours) and a half-day facilitated workshop. The self-paced e-learning modules aim to help you to gain understanding on the essential leadership skills and equip you with the techniques and strategies that you can apply, while the half-day workshop aims to reinforce and enhance the learning experience by closing the gap between the understanding and effective action.

This programme will enable you to effectively lead and influence the teams in the following areas: 

  • Delegation and communicating feedback; 
  • On-the-job coaching; and 
  • Conflict management.  

Programme Outline

1)    Effective Delegation & Feedback (e-learning module - 1.5 hours).

       On completion of this e-learning module, you will be able to:

  • Describe the delegation process, including the benefits and challenges to delegation
  • Differentiate the tasks that can be delegated and tasks that you need to undertake
  • Apply the basic concepts of delegating and monitoring effectively
  • Identify the criteria for delivering effective feedback
  • Apply the SBI and SBIBI models to structure positive and developmental feedback

2)    Effective On-The-Job Coaching (e-learning module - 1.0 hour)

      On completion of this e-learning module, you will be able to:

  • Describe key characteristics and behaviours of an effective coach
  • Identify the different types of coaching approach
  • Apply essential interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust
  • Use GROW model to effectively structure a coaching conversation

3)   Effective Conflict Management (e-learning module - 1.0 hour)      .

      On completion of this e-learning module, you will be able to:

  • Identify healthy vs unhealthy conflicts and causes of conflicts in the workplace
  • Apply conflict management strategies depending on the conflict situation
  • Work with affected team members to resolve, monitor and review agreed actions to resolve conflicts (i.e. Apply steps to facilitate conflict resolution)
  • Identify ways to minimise conflict that may affect team performance

 

4)    Effective Leadership Workshop ( Classroom training - 4.0 hours ) .

  • Group discussion: Recap and summarise e-learning contents
  • Skills practice:

a.    Practice effective delegation

i.    Determine which tasks to delegate using the Urgent vs Important matrix
ii.   Choose the most appropriate person to delegate task to
iii.  Practice communicating the task to be delegated

b.    Practice giving effective feedback

i.    Structure positive feedback
ii.   Structure developmental feedback
iii.  Practice giving feedback using the SBI and SBIBI models

c.    Practice giving effective on-the-job coaching

i.    Practice active listening skills
ii.   Prepare open-ended questions to ask
iii.  Practice coaching conversation using GROW model

d.   Practice effective conflict management

i.    Choose on appropriate conflict management strategy to use
ii.   Practice the conflict management process

  • Reflection: Personal action plan
