Programme Objective

With the global push towards more sustainable practices, sustainability is no longer just a matter of practising corporate philanthropy. In fact, sustainability matters have become a core part of the day-to-day operations of businesses worldwide as they pertain to the identification of key areas of business risk and disclosure of how they are managed by the company for its own long-term sustainability.

Companies now have to adopt a holistic approach for achieving social or environmental goals, and be able to prove it. Notably, sustainability has financial impacts which need to be reported, and this falls under the accountant’s remit. Given accountants’ increasingly strategic role in corporate governance, they play key roles in helping companies embed sustainability into their corporate strategies.

In this module, you will learn sustainability reporting in three broad areas:

  • Overview of sustainability and sustainability reporting
  • How sustainability reporting is relevant to the accountant
  • SGX requirements
