Deloitte Singapore and Asia Pacific

Richard Mackender leads the GST service line for Deloitte in Singapore and South East Asia and the Indirect Tax service line across Asia Pacific. He has more than 25 years of experience with Deloitte. He began his career with Deloitte UK’s London VAT team in 1997 and moved in 2003 to Singapore. Richard’s primary focus is in advising on the indirect tax aspects of a business’s activities, not only from a Singapore perspective, but also with regard to the wider Asia Pacific issues that arise and he has a particular focus on Financial Services in Singapore. Richard works closely with Tax Technology Consulting and the Global Tax Centre Asia to support outsourced indirect tax compliance and indirect tax technology transformation in the region.

Richard holds a law degree from the University of Wales (UK) and subsequently trained as a Barrister.  He was called to the Bar in October 1997 and is a member of Gray’s Inn. He is also an Accredited Tax Advisor (GST) with the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals (“SIATP”). He is contributing author for CCH’s Singapore Goods and Services Tax Guide and has co-authored a number of other books on indirect tax in Singapore and Asia Pacific.
