Programme ObjectiveThis course is ideal for students and working adults who are preparing themselves for the SCAQ Examinations Module – Advanced Financial Reporting (AFF).
The Advanced Financial Reporting module builds upon the knowledge and skills studied in the Principles of Financial Reporting module. Upon successful completion of this module, Candidates will be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of and apply the Conceptual Framework and the Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (International) (SFRS(I)s) to produce a complete set of financial statements for single entities and simple groups, including basic notes to the accounts. Candidates will also be able to explain and advise on the application of the SFRS(I)s, including the appropriate treatment and disclosure of hedge accounting, demonstrating appropriate professional judgment. After taking this module, you will be able to:Explain the importance of ethical behaviour in the context of Financial Reporting and be able to apply ethical guidelines for professional accountants. Describe and apply the appropriate measurement and recognition criteria for the elements of the financial statements, as required by the Singapore Financial Reporting Standards and related pronouncements and interpretations (e.g. Illustrative Examples, Guidance on Implementing, Interpretation of SFRS(I)) issued by the Accounting Standards Council.Demonstrate the appropriate treatment and disclosure relating to derivatives, hedge accounting, financial instruments and fair value measurement. Prepare consolidated financial statements with subsidiaries and associates under a business combination, including basic notes to the accounts. Sidiki Kaba is a Chartered Certified Accountant, a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA, U.K) and also a Certified Management Accountant, a member of the Institute of Management Accountant (IMA, USA).
Sidiki holds a master’s degree in Professional Accounting from the University of London. He possesses over 13 years’ experience in Finance gained both in Ghana and Vietnam, including Chief Accountant and Finance Director positions, more recently culminating in both a CEO and a non-executive Board position within a cross-border trading company. Outcomes of these two recent roles include implementing new financial control systems, driving process streamlining and improvements, and securing new contracts that have increased both revenues and profit.
Sidiki Kaba has taught accounting and finance modules at various institutions in Ghana, Vietnam and Singapore since 2013, including most recently within a part-time teaching position at London School of Business & Finance (LSBF), Singapore. This teaching experience includes over 6 years teaching ACCA, CMA, CIA and CA Singapore courses, helping students while challenging their creativity, fostering debate, and developing critical and rational thinking skills.
