This course is ideal for students and working adults who are preparing themselves for the SCAQ Examinations Module – Principles of Financial Reporting (PFF).
Programme Outline
The Principles of Financial Reporting module provides Candidates with knowledge of the Conceptual Framework and the Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (International) (SFRS(I)) to produce a complete set of financial statements for single entities, including basic notes to the accounts. Candidates will also be able to explain and advise on the application of the SFRS(I)s, demonstrating appropriate professional judgment. The Principles of Financial Reporting module provides foundation accounting knowledge for the Advanced Financial Reporting module and the Assurance module.
After taking this module, you will be able to:
- Explain the objectives of Financial Reporting, the standard setting process, as well as the need for and apply the components of the Conceptual Framework.
- Describe and apply the appropriate measurement and recognition criteria for the elements of the financial statements (Assets and Liabilities), as required by the Singapore Financial Reporting Standards and related pronouncements and interpretations.
- Describe and apply the appropriate measurement and recognition criteria for the elements of the financial statements (Revenue, Expenses, Equity and Other Comprehensive Income), as required by the Singapore Financial Reporting Standards and related pronouncements and interpretations.
- Prepare a complete set of financial statements, including basic notes to the accounts, for a retail entity, a service entity, and a manufacturing entity.
- Demonstrate the appropriate presentation and disclosure of accounting policies, changes in estimates and errors, and events after the reporting date
- Be prepared to take the SCAQ Exam – Principles of Financial Reporting (PFF)

Sidiki Kaba is a Chartered Certified Accountant, a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA, U.K) and also a Certified Management Accountant, a member of the Institute of Management Accountant (IMA, USA).
Sidiki holds a master’s degree in Professional Accounting from the University of London. He possesses over 13 years’ experience in Finance gained both in Ghana and Vietnam, including Chief Accountant and Finance Director positions, more recently culminating in both a CEO and a non-executive Board position within a cross-border trading company. Outcomes of these two recent roles include implementing new financial control systems, driving process streamlining and improvements, and securing new contracts that have increased both revenues and profit.
Sidiki Kaba has taught accounting and finance modules at various institutions in Ghana, Vietnam and Singapore since 2013, including most recently within a part-time teaching position at London School of Business & Finance (LSBF), Singapore. This teaching experience includes over 6 years teaching ACCA, CMA, CIA and CA Singapore courses, helping students while challenging their creativity, fostering debate, and developing critical and rational thinking skills.
