Programme Objective

This programme aims to help managers to develop and grow their teams. End of this workshop, managers will take away the mindset of a coach, some questioning techniques, and a coaching process to help themselves when having the coaching conversation. 
 

Programme Outline

  • Mindset of a Coach – what mindset should a coach have when he/she enters the conversation? Instructing? Advising? Telling? or Guiding?
  • Values that a coach should have – what kind of values should a coach have to enable him/her to have a successful coaching conversation?
  • Asking questions or Telling it to them?
  • Be familiar with the process of coaching – should there be a process or to go with the flow of the conversation?
  • Things to watch out for during coaching – tips to use whenever a coach needs help

Training Methodology

  • Mini lectures (no more than 20 mins)
  • Case studies
  • Group discussion
  • Role plays

Intended For

New managers, managers who had been leading teams for 2-3 years and anyone who would like to learn about coaching even if they do not lead a team. Mature managers who had been leading teams for many years and would like a refresher course on coaching may apply too.

Doreen Goh

Doreen Goh was the Senior Manager with a Big 4 Accounting firm training academy, based in Singapore. She specializes in assessing learning needs and requirements and translates them into learning roadmaps and solutions for further development of competencies. She also designs and develops workshop curriculums in ASEAN and Greater China. She was previously the senior learning and development consultant with an international HR consultancy firm.

The Greater China region experience gave Doreen the talent management advisory role which concretise her experience as a talent managerment lead, overseeing people development initiatives with performance management, succession planning and development of the high potentials within the organisation.

Prior to this, Doreen was a curriculum design and development manager and a trainer in one of the top training companies in Singapore. She had led workshops in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, China, India, Abu Dhabi, Thailand and Slovakia.

Doreen had co-written a training activity book, ToyDeas© and was a curriculum specialist engaged by Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) in 2004 and 2007.
