In all sectors, there is no shortage of optimism when hearing about new green initiatives and actions a company is taking to reduce its carbon footprint. Governments and the private sector have communicated net-zero goals for a wide range of purposes and regulations are being rolled up.  The opportunities that await the accounting professional are tremendous.

This seminar aims to equip accountants, auditors and sustainability officers with the widely adopted methodologies of carbon accounting. We will look closely at the basics of defining your organisational boundary, determining how to scope your emissions using a standardised framework, and provide you with the tools and methodologies to measure and manage greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) from an organisation.

  • Establishing organisational boundaries for developing a relevant and accurate GHG inventory for an organisation using the GHG Protocol
  • Identifying relevant and material scopes 1, 2 and 3 emission sources and accounting for them using the GHG Protocol
  • Reporting of GHG emission
  • Providing Internal Review and External Assurance
