This course aims to provide participants with an understanding of the key requirements of SSA 600 (Revised). Participants will be guided on the impact and application of the requirements in the audit approach.

Programme Outline

Morning Session

  • Considerations in acceptance and continuing a group audit engagement, including restrictions on access to information or people outside the control of group management
  • Performing risk assessment for/at group level and co-operation with component auditors
  • Group audit planning, including Group Audit Instructions and determination of components
  • Working with component auditors
  • Materiality levels for group audits

Afternoon Session

  • Responding to assessed risk, including work performed by component auditors – questionnaires, physical review of audit files, direct involvement
  • Responsibilities relating to the consolidation process
  • Communication with those charged with governance, group & component management and auditors
  • Required documentation

On the completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the requirements set out in SSA 600 (Revised) when performing group audits;
  • Collaborate effectively with component management and component auditors;
  • Understand and apply the responsibilities of the group engagement team in a group audit; and
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation relating to group audits.

Ramesh has over 20 years of working experience in audit & assurance, corporate reporting, corporate finance and risk management in a spectrum of industries that ranges from large public listed companies to multinational corporations, government agencies as well as SME’s. He started his career in a Big Four accounting firm and also has experience in corporate finance whilst attached to a major investment bank. He currently provides consulting and advisory services for businesses and public practices in accounting, auditing, corporate finance and risk management across Asia Pacific.
 
He has facilitated training for public accountants across Asia Pacific, multinationals and public sector institutions including the auditor general’s office in several countries.
