Finance Transformation – the impact of new technologies
Artificial intelligence, analytics, Blockchain, robotic process automation all have the potential to have a profound impact on the finance department. How can we make the most of them and ensure the finance department continues to add-value to organisations? We will explore the importance of a technology strategy, examples of new technology in action and the skills finance professionals will need to develop. We will also discuss how to overcome the challenges to be faced including getting investment, choosing the right technologies and overcoming resistance to change.

Rick Payne is ICAEW’s expert on building effective finance functions, business partnering and the role of the Chief Financial Officer. He is particularly interested in the way new technologies will impact finance functions and the skill requirements of finance staff. He is currently working on a series of reports on the CFO and Strategy. He qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG and then worked in senior roles in wholesale financial services.  In addition Rick is a qualified trainer and executive coach and has an MSc in Organisational Behaviour. He presents regularly to audiences of finance professionals and academics in the UK and internationally.
