Programme Objective
This course covers an overview of the Fintech landscape in ASEAN.

On completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the concept of regulatory sandbox.
  • What’s the legal status of Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) and Crypto Trading.
  • Future Trends of Fintech- BlockChain, Regtech, InsurTech and AI.
  • Regulators around ASEAN and their modus operandi  handling the thin line between promoting Fintech Innovation and market protection.

1.         Regulatory Landscape for Initial Coin Offerings (ICO)

  • Legal status of Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) across ASEAN- identifying the existing regulation/guidelines for ICO.
  • Are all ICO’s fraud? How to spot the good ones from the bad ones?
  • Regulation around crypto exchanges and how to make your Crypto trade scam free.

 
2.         Understanding Regulatory sandbox

  • What is a sandbox? Does your start up need one?
  • Distinction between regulatory and industry sandbox.
  • Jurisdictions where it’s currently applicable and its success rate.
  • Does graduating from Sandbox entitle you good money through ICO funding? Some case studies to be discussed.

 
3.         Fintech Trends for 2018 and how its useful for Auditors and Accountants

  • Understanding API’s, Open Banking- is open banking a reality yet?
  • Project Ubin of Monetary Authority Bank of Singapore (MAS) - using BlockChain for clearing and settlement of payments and securities.
  • Data Privacy and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)- what to bear in mind.
  • Understanding Payments, Remittance landscape within BlockChain framework and RegTech, InsurTech and AI.

 
4.         Regulators around ASEAN

  • Regulator’s readiness to innovation- fintech regulators around ASEAN and their approach towards innovation and market protection.
  • Fintech Innovation Hub- what makes Singapore the best Fintech Hub?
  • Covering every jurisdiction within ASEAN and some of the other key Fintech markets to throw light on regulation/soft regulation, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Market advantages and Crypto Bans.

Neha is a Chevening Financial Services Fellow, 2017 and studied financial risk management at Kings College, London. Neha is a Lawyer and has worked in different areas of finance such as hedge funds, private equity, venture capital and been recently focussing on Fintech.
 
As the Country Head for Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), Singapore she worked closely with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on the Registered Fund Management Companies (RFMC) regime. She set up the India operations for Eurex Frankfurt AG, Deutsche Boerse
Group, India. Neha is a regular contributor to fintech discussions, especially to bridge the gender gap in
fintech and the financial services industry.
