Programme Objective

This course will introduce participants to ethics, personal and professional skills and establish a foundation for developing an independent mindset to compare and question different ethical perspectives. This will ensure that the Chartered Accountants have the minimum requisite knowledge in these areas, which will then be further developed and integrated into the real world of a professional accountant.

This course is specially conceptualised and designed to provide you with a framework for ethical conduct in the accounting profession by focusing on the principles and guidance provided in the Handbook of the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants. This excruciatingly candid course addresses the practical applications of the Code and the five fundamental principles.

This course is designed in a fun and exciting format that traces the professional life of STAR, a Chartered Accountant of Singapore who faces various ethically challenging situations — aspects most professional accountants will very likely encounter during their own careers.

This Course will also help to:

  • Build resilience in professional accountants.
  • Provide them the competitive advantage in the market place; and
  • Place them in good stead as they progress in their careers.
  • This is an interactive course which will include plenty of short case examples, fun facts, ethical dilemmas faced by accountants and real-life illustrations to help reinforce the learning concepts and outcomes.

Wondering about the massive crypto debacle of FTX and its wunderkind former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried?

In November 2022, FTX and FTX.US crashed due to a lack of liquidity and mismanagement of funds, followed by a large volume of withdrawals from rattled investors. The value of FTX's native token, FTT, plummeted, taking other coins down with it including Ethereum and Bitcoin, which reached a two-year low as of 9 November 2022.

As this recent crash is in the minds of many professional accountants, the trainer will discuss the fall of the crypto giant FTX and do a deep dive to examine the business model, management and financial red flags that investors, traders, regulators and other stakeholders missed.

Training Methodology

Seminar style - Story-telling, Fun Facts, Short Case Examples, Real Life Illustrations, ‘Talk to Your Neighbour’, “It’s Movie Time” with pre- and post-screening activities, and plenty of team activities such as the Trainer’s “trademark” end-of-day fun and exciting quiz round (Who Wants to be an Ethics Genius) which will help reinforce the learning concepts and outcomes.
