Programme Objective

This course is ideal for students and working adults who are preparing themselves for the SCAQ Examinations Module – Accounting for Decision Making (ADF).

Programme Outline

The Accounting for Decision Making module develops cost accounting techniques for planning, control, and decision making. The key focus is on analysis of relevant information for decision making by management. Upon successful completion of this module, Candidates will have gained practical knowledge through the application of various strategic management accounting tools and techniques.
After taking this module, you will be able to:

  • Explain managerial accounting and its primary responsibilities in organisations and classify costs used in managerial accounting.
  • Apply various cost management tools for analysis and decision making.
  • Prepare master and flexible budgets and apply standard costs to compute and interpret the cost variances.
  • Identify various types of responsibility centres and evaluate various types of short-term.
  • Analyse various types of strategic models in managerial accounting.
  • Discuss the application of balanced scorecard and performance measurements for strategic planning and control for sustainable business.

Rebecca Ngee is currently an Associate Lecturer at Republic Polytechnic’s School of Business, where she has taught Financial Accounting and Cost & Management Accounting for over 16 years. She is also serving as Associate Faculty at Singapore Institute of Technology since 2015, teaching modules in auditing, strategic planning, and accounting. Academically, she holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from NUS and an Executive MBA from SUNY Buffalo. Her industry experience spans statutory audit at Deloitte, finance leadership at A*STAR, and two decades as Managing Director of RN Search Pte Ltd, specializing in executive recruitment across finance, IT, and HR.
