DGT094 : Transforming Accounting and Finance: Leveraging RPA, ChatGPT, and Copilot for Efficiency and Innovation NEW

This course was previously known as DGT084: Practical Application of RPA and ChatGPT for Accounting and Finance Professionals (Classroom).


It is mandatory for all participants to be equipped with a laptop (Microsoft OS, Windows 10, 4 gig ram, i5 core), pre-installed with either Microsoft Excel 2010, 2013, 2016 (full licence) or any latest version, to optimise the learning experience. If you have a Microsoft Office 365 subscription, you will need to have a locally installed Excel 365 application in your PC or laptop. Macros cannot be executed when the workbook containing them is opened in Excel online. Also, kindly note that Mac Excel version has limited Excel functionality.

This comprehensive course is designed to empower accounting and finance professionals to use robotic process automation (RPA) to build robots that automate accounting and finance processes.

On the completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Describe the potential of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for accounting and finance processes.
  2. Create basic RPA robots for accounting processes using Microsoft Power Automate Desktop.
  3. Deploy ChatGPT and Copilot for various accounting and finance use cases, including fraud identification, financial statements analysis, analytics, PowerPoint presentations generation, VBA code creation.
  4. Develop a digital transformation plan for their company, considering implementation steps and change management.

Introduction to RPA, ChatGPT and Copilot

  • Overview of RPA, ChatGPT and Copilot
  • Understand the benefits and potential of RPA, ChatGPT and Copilot in the accounting and finance domain
  • Discuss how these tools can enhance and changing existing job roles
  • Show practical use cases for these tools for these different job roles


Hands-on Session: Using ChatGPT and Copilot to generate code

  • Step-by-step guidance on interacting with ChatGPT and Copilot
  • Set up to keep information confidential for PDPA purposes
  • Provide pre-built prompts for different use cases to initiate conversations with ChatGPT and Copilot
  • Explore how to structure queries to maximise the effectiveness of ChatGPT in generating accurate responses
  • Introduction to prompt engineering
  • Generate and run code to automate accounting and finance processes.


Hands-on Session: Building RPA robots

  • Fundamental of RPA
  • Build 4 RPA robots for accounting processes
    • Data entry into accounting systems
    • Data extraction from accounting systems
    • Sending customized mass emails
    • PDF extraction


Developing a Digital Transformation Plan for your company

  • Identify potential use cases and create a roadmap for digital transformation
  • Explore the steps and considerations for implementing digital solutions within an organisation
  • Understand the importance of change management in implementing digital transformation
  • Discuss strategies to address challenges, overcome resistance, and ensure successful adoption of such technology

Daryl Aw is the founder and Managing Director of Skybots Pte Ltd in Singapore. Skybots provides automation solutions for accounting, tax, audit, corporate secretarial, finance and sustainability processes, helping companies in their digital transformation journey. These solutions involve using Robotics Procession Automation (RPA), data analytics and Artificial Intelligence tools such as ChatGPT to automate tedious and repetitive processes for companies to successfully achieve significant productivity gains. He was previously a lecturer in Singapore Polytechnic leading the accounting faculty in RPA and Sustainability projects. He was the lead in Strategic Partnerships leading collaborations with the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC), the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants
(ISCA) and the National Council of Social Services (NCSS).
 
He has overseen the implementation of more than 100 robots for more than 300 organisations. In 2021, he emerged as the champion at the ISCA RPA Hackathon. In 2022, he was nominated for The President’s Awards for Teachers.
 
Before joining Singapore Polytechnic, he was an auditor with EY Singapore providing auditing services to public listed and private companies in various industries. He is a Chartered Accountant with ISCA.
