The course aims to provide Business Leaders with an understanding of funding options available for SMEs at different stages of the business lifecycle, practical approaches for valuing SMEs to support informed funding decisions and maximizing funding to accelerate business growth.

It will equip participants with practical skills necessary to identify and evaluate various funding options as well as prepare their businesses for successful funding outcomes.

At the end of this course, you will be able to:
 

  • Understand how to assess whether funding decisions will create shareholder value.
  • Identify and assess various SME funding sources including debt financing, equity funding, government grants, and alternative financing solutions.
  • Understand key valuation methodologies for SMEs and select the most appropriate method for your business.
  • Prepare your business for funding discussions, including preparation of business plan and cash flow forecast and creating investor-ready presentations

Understand key principles for making financing decisions, including how to determine whether these decisions create shareholder value.
Explore the various stages of SME funding including,
  • Startup phase,
  • Growth phase
  • Mature phase.
Explore the various funding sources available to SMEs including
  • Bank loans,
  • Alternative lending solutions,
  • Venture capital and Private equity,
  • investors ESG grants,
  • Invoice Financing
Recognise common funding challenges encountered by SMEs in Singapore.
Apply appropriate valuation methodologies tailored for SMEs, including,
  • Discounted cash flow (DCF) method
  • Market multiples method
  • Asset-based valuation method.
Understanding Forecasting
  • Importance of forecasting as it drives debt repayment capability and its influence on funding decisions and valuations
  • How to forecast financial performance, including revenue drivers, cost assumptions, and capital needs.
Sharing on real-world SME case study to identify success factors  and common mistakes the SME made during their fund-raising journey.
