DGT115 : Practical RPA for Finance Processes NEW

7.00 CPE Hours (Category 5)
Classroom

This course was previously known as DGT094: Transforming Finance: Leveraging RPA, ChatGPT & Copilot for Smarter Workflows.

It is mandatory for all participants to be equipped with a laptop (Microsoft OS, Windows 10, 4 gig ram, i5 core), pre-installed with either Microsoft Excel 2010, 2013, 2016 (full licence) or any latest version, to optimise the learning experience. If you have a Microsoft Office 365 subscription, you will need to have a locally installed Excel 365 application in your PC or laptop. Macros cannot be executed when the workbook containing them is opened in Excel online. Also, kindly note that Mac Excel version has limited Excel functionality.

This is a fully hands-on, practical course designed to help accounting and finance professionals understand how Robotic Process Automation (RPA) applies to real-world accounting and finance processes and to build working software robots that deliver measurable time savings.

Participants will learn how to design, build, and deploy automation solutions that handle repetitive, manual, and rule-based tasks across common finance and accounting workflows. The course emphasizes practical implementation, with step-by-step robot development that can be adapted and scaled for use in participants’ own organizations.

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Understand how RPA applies to accounting and finance processes and identify high-impact automation opportunities.
  2. Build functional software robots using Microsoft Power Automate Desktop to automate repetitive, rule-based tasks.
  3. Design end-to-end automation workflows for real business scenarios, including file handling, web automation, and system navigation.
  4. Integrate AI capabilities into RPA workflows using UiPath to enhance intelligence and flexibility.
  5. Measure ROI, define success metrics, and develop a practical approach to scaling RPA across the organisation.

  • Robot 3: Sending customized mass emails using automated workflows such as AGM reminders or chasing debtors
  • Robot 4: Extracting structured data from PDF documents such as invoices

AI Integration with RPA (UiPath)

  • How AI is embedded into RPA workflows using UiPath
  • Using AI for document understanding and intelligent data extraction

Reusable Automation Techniques

  • Downloading multiple Excel and PDF files from websites
  • Logging into and navigating different web systems
  • Automating button clicks and form interactions
  • Renaming, organizing, and managing files automatically
