Live Webinar

Programme Outline

Diverse, equal, and inclusive (DE&I) workplaces continue to financially outperform companies that have not yet embraced DE&I values. By creating a fair and transparent working environment, DE&I workplaces also foster a strong sense of belonging for all employees.

Join our discussion on creating a DE&I workplace. We will be sharing findings from Mapping Women’s Career Journey, a joint global study by Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW) involving ISCA and six other professional accountancy bodies. This will include Singapore-specific findings and recommendations.

In addition, learn about reverse mentoring, a growing practice where younger employees share their experiences on topics such as technology and diversity, with senior managers and executives.

Finally, participate in our panel discussion as seasoned experts and professionals delve into the creation of DE&I workplaces.

Chairperson, ISCA Corporate Governance and Risk Management Committee;

ISCA is part of a global research study to understand and map the career journeys of mid-career women in the accountancy and finance profession. We will explore these and other unique challenges facing mid-career women in Singapore. The presentation will cover the business case for DE&I workplaces, and introduce strategies to facilitate a DE&I workplace in Singapore for the benefit of both employers and employees.

Reverse mentorship facilitates the sharing of mindsets, enabling the younger generation to influence senior managers and executives in organisations. Learn about how reverse mentoring is growing in importance in fields like audit and assurance, where innovations such as cloud computing, big data and analytics, and collective intelligence could disrupt traditional practices. Find out how reverse mentoring can benefit your organisation through knowledge exchange with people of different ages, nurturing of talent pipelines, and sharing of diverse perspectives.

Facilitating a Diverse, Equal, and Inclusive Workplace
Achieving diversity, equality, and inclusivity requires the buy-in of all parties across an organisation. This is often complicated by invisible structures - such as work schedules, culture and language, varying socialisation norms, and even biology. How do we facilitate diversity, equality, and inclusivity around these differences? How do we create a more equal working environment for everyone?

The panel will discuss the nuts and bolts of creating a DE&I workplace; we would discuss questions such as:

1.    Beh Siew Kim, Member, ISCA Sustainability and Climate Change committee; Chief Financial & Sustainability Officer, CapitaLand Investment / The Ascott Limited

Why is it important to eliminate casual bias and microaggression, in language and behaviour? What can organisations do to manage these biases?
How should organisations better manage the official and unofficial hours for networking?
How can organisations better engage employees, who are also parents?
How might organisations open new avenues for communication to listen to employee needs and enable fairer opportunities for all employees?
How might senior management maintain an inclusive tone in their internal communications?

2.    Narissa Chen, Member, ISCA Auditing and Assurance Standards committee; Mazars – Partner, Head of Audit and Assurance

3.    Teo Eng Siong, Member, ISCA Young Professionals Advisory Committee; Manager (Global Investigations), PayPal.
