Keynote: The Role of Democratizing Analytics in Data Modernization

Solid analytics has three parts: excellent and accessible data, robust analytics stack/tools, and well-trained people. The formula worked when analytics was a unique function within a company, often the data science unit or a particular unit with a business function (e.g., FP&A within the office of the CFO). This has changed.

With digital transformation, heightening competition, and an increasingly complex market landscape (made worse with the pandemic), having near real-time insights matters. From marketing to HR, various functions are creating analyst functions within the department. In addition, line of business (LoB) requires the right tools and knowledge (not just another dashboard) to maximize data-driven insights. Essentially, analytics is becoming democratized.

In this session, we will look at the journey so far. It will dig deeper into the motivations and best practices for building the right analytics culture, where the main hurdles lie, and why it is critical to start with the right tools.

Key Topics:

  • What a culture of analytics means to companies?

  • Aligning data and analytics strategy with the needs of such a culture and how it impacts day to day operations

  • Best practices in motivating employees to use analytics and the role of self-service analytics tools

  • Overcoming data silos and leveraging tools to simplify analytics

  • The emergence of citizen data scientists and how they work with data scientists

Exploring how the center of enablement can drive a data strategy

Fireside Chat: Pivoting Your Business: How CFOs can Leverage Data and Analytics to Lead their Organisations to Greater Heights

The finance function has become a pivotal player in performance management, strategy, operational improvement, and digital transformation. Once solely occupied with control, compliance, and reporting, finance today is poised to lead organizations into the digital future, discovering new forms of value creation along the way. In their evolved role, CFOs will need robust data tools - including predictive analytics capabilities - to handle risk and compliance, identify financial disruptions, and gain lines of sight across finance. As their influence in the boardroom grows, CFOs will also need analytics to support decision making.

In this fireside chat, we discuss how the finance function is becoming more data-driven, which helps enrich its data strategy and supports agile decision-making. Focus areas for discussion include:

  • What it means to use data and analytics to create a decision-ready organization

  • How finance can accelerate its data and analytics journey

  • The gaps and barriers between how the finance function works today and how leading organizations are moving finance to a data-centric future

The investments in technology, skills, and cultural changes needed to create a data-ready organization
