Panel Discussion: Transforming Financial Investigations: Forensic Data Analytics

Moderator: Belinda Tan, Grant Thornton Singapore

Panellists:

  • Mabel Watt, Auditor-General's Office
  • Aaron Lee, Allen & Gledhill
  • Ben Ee, FTI Consulting

Digital data pertaining to a legal case or an investigation can be massive given the extensive data generated and stored by organisations. Forensic data analytics have allowed investigators to bring to light hidden criminal patterns and relationships, and to use a risk-based approach to prioritise their resources. Using analytical techniques to generate real-time and highly accurate insights, investigators can be more proactive during their investigations instead of spending time to sift through high volumes of financial and transactional data.

The panellists in this session will discuss the opportunities that forensic data analytics present to white-collar crime investigations and prosecutions with voluminous digital data. With reference to real-life cases, they will also illustrate how forensic data analytics can be leveraged to spearhead investigation efforts of financial crimes.
